Hello, and welcome to Homegrown Honeychild.
Before I tell you about me, let me tell you about the name of this blog. Honeychild is a term that is used endearingly in the south, and I love the way it sounds. Homegrown refers to the beauty that comes from flourishing in your own garden, particularly in the home. When the two are combined, it gives a feeling of warmth and friendliness. I want my baby to be a “homegrown honeychild”, which means to me that he grows up in a home where love, confidence, trust, kindness, and joy abound.
Since becoming a mom, my priorities have realigned so significantly that it is difficult to articulate. Over the last year and a half, I have become a joyful cook, passionate cleaner of all things, and electronic device watchdog, which is a complete 180 degree turn from what I valued pre-motherhood. I get great satisfaction out of cooking a good meal and keeping a clean house. Maybe that is what happens when one finally reaches adulthood (ha!).
My name is Amanda, and as you may have already read, I have a lot of different titles. Coach’s wife, mom, cook, housekeeper, traveler, runner, Christian, gardener, and adapter to change are some good ones to start with. Like most people (especially parents) these days, my hands are full. I have recently transitioned out of the medical field (physical therapy) into life as stay at home mom, and I am loving it! This has coincided with another out of state move for my husband’s job. Life as a coach’s wife is never boring! Join me in my adventures as I write about my experiences and personal growth in my third decade of life!
